When Angie and I first moved into our home in West Monroe more than 22 years ago Luke was 2, Miracle & Mariah were only 4 months old and requiring a lot of medical attention. (Mikalen was in the oven and we didn’t even know it!) Great care was taken to situate the furniture, place family pictures on the walls, and decorate each room. A house becomes a home with time and love poured into establishing a pleasant environment.

Does being a Christian mean your home will automatically be blessed and protected? Absolutely not! What should you do to be certain your home is a spiritually safe place for your family? You go to the Master Builder, Jesus Christ, and see what He has promised in the Bible.

God’s Word is filled with promises of protection abound, but there is one place where they are all jam-packed in a single chapter: Psalm 91. Psalm 91 is the Lord’s covenant for divine protection. It covers every danger—sickness, disease, assault, crime, tornadoes, fire and any other threat to your safety and well-being.

It’s exciting to have the assurance that you can live in the shelter of Psalm 91 with safety and build an environment in your home that forces Satan to get out and stay out! But like any of the Lord’s promises, you have a responsibility to receive the promises of Psalm 91 by faith.

Here are some FAITH BUILDING TOOLS that will help you build a Psalm 91 house.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” –Psalm 91:1

You exist in two atmospheres, one is physical and the other spiritual. An atmosphere is defined as “a pervading or surrounding influence or spirit, general mood or environment.” In Genesis 1, the earth’s atmosphere was dark and empty—until God spoke. The spiritual atmosphere of God didn’t just all of the sudden happen to appear. God filled the atmosphere with what He wanted to take up that space.

We to have a spiritual atmosphere in our homes that we can ignite with the power of the Holy Spirit, or leave blank for anything or anyone to move into. The latter is devastating ! If we fail to keep our spiritual guard up, then we wear ourselves out continuously fighting unnecessary battles.

How can you flood your atmosphere? Try these simple, but powerful, ideas at home:

  • Download the entire Bible on an MP3 player or your smartphone. Hook it up to small desktop speakers and put it in the main living space of your home. Set it to play continuously and let it run on low volume 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, God’s Word is being spoken into the atmosphere of your home!
  • Listen to or watch one of my messages in your home. You can order a DVD/CD combo set of my message, RECEIVING A MIRACLE IN THE MIDST OF YOUR STORM, that will help build your faith level to receive the miracle you need! To order, click here.
  • Play worship music softly throughout the day.
  • Speak the Word of God out loud throughout your day.

The Truth for Youth consists of the entire New Testament in the God’s Word Translation along with powerful graphic novels, (comic stories), that deal with the truth about these issues: drugs, drunkenness, peer pressure, pornography, sexual purity, cutting, sexting, suicide, honor, homosexuality, witchcraft, and pluralism. The plan of salvation is incorporated into each story.

“He is my refuge and my fortress….” –Psalm 91:2, NKJV

Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to this world and its ways. Media choices like television shows, movies, and music that promote fear, worry, infidelity, divorce, anger, and sexual immorality are in opposition to God’s Word and weaken the protection around you, your home, and your family.

When you take refuge in God, you remove yourself from those ungodly influences. Ask God, according to Psalm 119:37, to turn your eyes from worthless distractions and help you clean your atmosphere of all that is not pleasing to Him.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him…” Psalm 91:14, NKJV

Have you ever walked into a room and felt tension so thick, you could almost cut it with a knife wanted to run? The wrong spirit was most certainly to blame. James 3:16 says, “For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there” (NKJV).

When you love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength, you will desire to love others as He loves them. However, if you don’t walk in love, you are walking into the devil’s territory. Strife, unforgiveness, rebellion, and pride are all the devil’s tools used to come into your home and stir up strife. Satan’s goal is to divide and destroy your home.

It is extremely expensive to allow the “luxury” of a few quarrels or to permit your children to rebel and talk back to you. When you do, you are inviting an ungodly spirit to operate in your home. On the other hand, the power of agreement is a supernatural, miracle-working power!

So, make up your mind to stop any attitudes or situations that cause destruction. When any ungodly spirit tries to raise its nasty head in your home, deal with it immediately. Say, “Spirit of strife, unforgiveness, pride and rebellion, get out of my home in the Name of Jesus!”

“A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.” –Psalm 91:7, NKJV

The world around you—even other Christians —seem to struggle with continuous sickness and tragedy. But under God’s promise of protection, those evils will not harm you. When you stand in faith for Psalm 91 protection, you will see those around you falling, but that evil won’t come near you.

One way to appropriate your faith for supernatural protection is to anoint your home with oil. Oil represents the power of the Holy Spirit and is a symbol of faith in God’s ability to purify and make holy. It is an act of dedicating your home to Jesus.

Anoint the frame of every door in your home. As you do, pray and invite the Holy Spirit to fill every inch of your home in every room. Pray that only His will be done and that everything that is said and done in your home will be pleasing to Him.

“And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” –Isaiah 10:27, NKJV

“No evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.” –Psalm 91:10

There is power in the blood of Jesus! In 1 Peter 1:18-19, we find that we were redeemed from the curse with the precious blood of Christ. So, when the devil tries to reek havoc in our lives, we overcome him by the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 12:11).

In Luke 10:19, Jesus shows us how to appropriate His blood, “I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy.” So, we plead Jesus’ precious blood over our families, our property, and our possessions.

Shortly after Angie and I moved to West Monroe we quickly realized that the T-intersection where we lived was very dangerous. In a short period of time, 14 vehicles had crashed in our front yard. With small children, these wrecks on our property were not acceptable! One crash at 4 AM resulted in the driver unconscious with his gas pedal pressed to the floor close to our front porch. God and the fact that the tire of the car was propped off the ground are the two things that kept them from ending up in our living room!

I said, “Enough devil! You can’t kill my family!” I walked our property line, pleading the blood of Jesus. By faith I drew a blood line of protection around our property.

There has not been one single accident that resulted in a vehicle landing in our yard since I pled Jesus blood over our land 22 years ago!

In prayer and faith, you can plead the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and draw a blood line around your property, your vehicles, your children’s schools and your workplace.

“He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.” –Psalm 91:11

One way God carries out your deliverance and your protection is through angels. You have angels at your service. You could employ a hundred natural men for your security, but they would be limited by natural circumstances. However, angels operate under the direction of Jesus (1 Peter 3:22), and one of their duties is working on behalf of the children of God. Angels are real and powerful! As a Christian they are an important part of your life.

Let me encourage you to dispatch angels around you, your family members, your home, your vehicles, and any building you walk into. Say, “Ministering angels, I send you forth to protect my family according to Psalm 91.” Believe God that it will happen!

His truth shall be your shield….” Psalm 91:4, NKJV

The Word of God is ammunition, a sharp sword (Hebrews 4:12), so when we pray the Word, we pray, expecting to hit the bulls-eye!

Pray Psalm 91 for protection over your home and family. Commit it to memory, and make it a part of your heart and spirit. Put a copy somewhere in your home as a reminder of God’s commitment of protection. You can even pray something as simple as, “I pray Psalm 91 protection over my home and family today.”

Put these faith building tools to work in your life and home, and watch the dynamic power of Psalm 91 build a hedge of spiritual thorns and a wall of fire around your family that cannot be touched! The Word of God cannot be penetrated and Satan cannot stand against it!!! The Bible always produces fruit and accomplishes all it says it will do (Isaiah 55:11). Have faith in God and relax in the protection and provision that only Jesus can accomplish!!!

When you partner with Revival Fires, you are providing Bibles for, and helping to lead, incarcerated men and women on a journey toward freedom in Christ.

I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. (Matthew 25:36)

Let me introduce you to Eric…

Eric’s story is one of redemption through the tool of our popular Truth for Youth Bible. After being sentenced to a Youth Denton center for armed robbery, Eric felt hopeless―as if his life had no meaning. Until one day, he received a copy of the Truth for Youth Bible and made the decision to choose God’s plan for his life over his own. He contacted us and we have been providing him with discipleship materials that are helping him learn about the Lord and how to be successful in all areas of his life. Now released from prison, Eric is living out his new life purpose. He is a loving husband, a businessman, and an active member of his church.

Through your support of Revival Fires, you can help transform the lives of men and women behind bars―just like Eric. You can give them a second chance and help them find true freedom in Christ by providing them a copy of the Truth for Youth Bible.

Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them. (Hebrews 13:3)

Send us your prayer needs and we will pray with you! Also, please pray for the following needs we have:

  • Our revival services and upcoming evangelistic crusades. We are witnessing more people give their hearts to Christ, get filled with the Spirit, healed, delivered and set on fire for God than in the history of the ministry God has called us to!
  • Truth for Youth Bible distribution to America’s young people that commit to give them to their unsaved friends in school.
  • Bible distribution to the adults and youth of Cuba that have never had a Bible.

When you practice a pattern of vitally important spiritual activity in your life, it will keep you solid, protect you from satan, and bring you to sure triumph.

You may not know what God has in store for your future. However, it is not hidden from you, it is hidden for you. What unfolds for your life is up to you and the decisions you make. Whatever you have and whatever happens in your life isn’t an accident, or necessarily always God’s will—it is in your hands more than you may realize.

Your daily activity will help you determine what your future holds. What are you doing regularly each day will determine what happens to you in this life. If you’re sowing to your flesh, the results will never be what you want. But if you sow to the spirit, you will become strong.

(Galatians 6:8). You will get to a place where you stand your ground no matter what comes your way, resist the enemy, and receive more from God regardless of what happens in your life. Is triumph important to you?

Proverbs 8:34-35 says, “Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching DAILY at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord” (NKJV).

Plainly said, a daily routine of Holy Ghost led activity will yield glorious productivity in your life. Do you want to stop being crushed by the devil again and again? It’s time for you to take your faith to a higher level. When you implement specific spiritual routines in your life, it will make you durable, protect you from the attacks of the devil, and bring you to sure overcoming triumph.

First of all as a mature believer you must eat healthy spiritual food.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” –Matthew 4:4, NKJV.

You can’t live on just nutrition for your body—you need healthy nutrition for your spirit, too. A healthy Christian realizes the severity of the works of the enemy and understands the importance of having a strong spirit to withstand the tricks of satan.

How do you feed your spirit? By reading the Bible every day.

Healthy believers know that one snack each week (Sunday Morning Only Church Goers) isn’t enough to keep us through the tribulations the Lord warned us would come our way (John 16:33). We need daily, nutritionally well balanced, hot meals to stand on top of every trial in a victorious position.

The Word of God has to be a priority in your life, not something you do in your spare time.

Rick Renner says, “No Word, no breakfast.” Pastor Rick doesn’t eat breakfast until he feeds his spirit with the Word of God every morning.

Secondly, as a mature believer you must strengthen your faith level.

“David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” –1 Samuel 30:6, AMPC

Faith is your responsibility. It isn’t God’s, it isn’t your pastor’s, and it isn’t your spouse’s. The only one who can assure that you enjoy a durable faith level is you. God has given you everything you need to establish a strong faith—the kind of faith that moves mountains, shuts the mouths of lions, quenches the flames of fire, turns weakness to strength, and puts whole armies to flight (Hebrews 11:33-34).

You establish that kind of faith by hearing the Word of God over and over. (Romans 10:17) Feeding your faith is the seed; hearing it again and again is how you water the seed and build faith. Just as with natural muscles, repetition is the key to building strong faith. To build your faith, try implementing some of these ideas into your daily schedule:

As you drive to and from work, listen to a faith building message from our ministry or another ministry that preaches the Word.

-Keep your MP3 player loaded with Bible-based podcasts. Then, when you work out, go on a walk, or take your lunch break, put in earbuds and feed your spirit.

-Turn on the Word of God in your home as you go about your daily chores.

As you nourish your spirit, remember that faith comes by hearing, but so does disbelief. So, what are you listening to? What is the news telling you? (Even Fox News!) What are your friends telling you? Protect the precious Word you’ve sown into your heart by refusing to take in anything that contradicts the Word.

When you strengthen your faith by listening to the Word everyday, truth comes, faith comes and then, triumph comes!

As a mature believer you need to do regularly is Speak the Word.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” –Proverbs 18:21, NKJV

You’ve heard the saying, You are what you eat. But the Bible says, in essence, You are what you say (Mark 11:23).

Healthy believers speak only the Word over their lives and the lives of those around them. Often it is a matter of life and death. Don’t waste the power and authority Jesus provided for you.

Bring yourself to a place where you speak the Word over every situation. By putting God’s Word in your heart every day, speaking His Word will become your normal reaction for everything you face, which means you will respond quickly with faith.

When tribulations comes your way, don’t let the devil have the final word, talk back! When the devil tempted Jesus, He answered back (Matthew 4:1-11). He answered with the Word and the Word only. When He came across a fig tree that didn’t produce, He didn’t just accept it, He spoke to it (Mark 11:12-14). God uses words to “call those things which be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17, NKJV), and we need to do the same.

No matter what you’re faced with, speak healing, speak blessing, speak abundance, speak forgiveness, speak peace. Speak the Word again and again and again and again.  Fire the Word of God like a machine gun. Speak God’s Word with faith, it will change your life.

As mature believer you will learn to take Control of your Thoughts.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” –Joshua 1:8, NKJV

Is your thought life healthy or harmful? The mind, spirit and body are interconnected. Your thoughts influence your words, which influence your well-being, welfare, joy, peace and every other area of your life. So, it’s worth taking the time to perfect!

Thoughts are real and occupy space in your head. ‘Bring all thoughts into captivity.’ Your brain is created to do that. And when you do, your brain will operate correctly.

To bring every thought into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5), begin focusing on what you’re thinking about. When your thoughts wander off to things like, you’re not going to get healed; you’re going to die; you’ll never get promoted; how do you capture thoughts like these and cast them down? You resist them. You answer them. Never let your thoughts go unanswered. Instead, say, “I’m not taking that thought.”

You can be victorious over your thought life by meditating on Gods Word. To meditate means you don’t just hear it, you focus on it, contemplate it and give it serious attention. That’s how you expand your capacity for faith, and that’s why the most spiritually mature people you will come in contact with are those who utilize their time meditating on the Word of God.

Another important attribute of a mature believer is spending time praising and magnifying the Lord

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” –Psalm 34:1, NKJV

Praise is a language of faith and a language of receiving. A mature believer is fluent in praise. We are told to bless the Lord at all times (Psalm 34:1) because no matter what is happening in your life, we have endless reasons to thank Him for what He has done, what He is in the process of doing, and what we know He will do.

It’s easy to praise God when things are going good in your life. Praise is an act of faith. If you believe you receive what you’ve asked, you’ll thank God for it, even if it hasn’t happened yet. Praise says, “I know it’s coming.”

Mature believers realize there is a connection between praise and strength. They know a spirit of praise puts you in position and produces spiritual maturity.

Mature believers Pray in the Holy Ghost

“Build yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”—Jude 20, NKJV

A mature believer knows the importance of keeping his spiritual gas tank filled with premium gasoline. That’s where praying in other tongues comes in. When you pray in the spirit, you edify yourself, which means to boost or enhance. It develops your spirit and builds you up in your faith.

The powerful part of praying in other tongues is that it allows you to pray above what you know in the natural. It takes you into the spiritual realm and opens the door to revelation, wisdom, instruction and encouragement.

And finally, as a mature believer you will do away with excess baggage.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.” –Hebrews 12:1

Streamlining. It’s an extremely important concept in aerodynamics. To streamline is to reduce resistance, creating a faster and smoother journey. It is studied by NASA engineers, airline pilots, shipbuilders and even athletes. The concept is to do away with anything that would slow a craft, or person, down. The primary goal in streamlining is to accomplish the very best performance and achieve a triumphal outcome.

That’s what we are set apart to accomplish in our spiritual walk, too. When God told us to “strip off every weight that slows us down,” He was telling us to streamline our lives so we can enjoy spectacular victory.

Imagine watching a professional boxer wearing a suit of armor. You’d likely yell at him through the TV, saying, “Throw off the armor! It’s slowing you down!”

That’s what God is speaking to you today. What kind of baggage are you lugging around today? Worry, anxiety, stress or fear? Maybe it’s a sin habit you haven’t removed or unforgiveness that took root in your heart a long time ago. Whatever it is, make the decision to shake it off! It’s slowing you down. Shake off everything that is keeping you from being what God has created you to be!

When you put these important things in your life you will become the mature believer that God has called you to be. You will develop the kind of spirit that will cripple the devil and make certain the kind of victory you’ve always aspired to acquire. This is the life Jesus died to provide you with. This is the life you were meant to live.

The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including Redemption, fellowship, healing, protection, and authority over the devil.

As Christians, we know about the blood, sing hymns about the blood, and remember it during Communion. But how many of us truly know how deep its power runs, and all that it has provided for us? Even more important—how many of us use it and apply it in our lives every day?

From Genesis to Revelation, the words the blood are kept before our eyes—a reminder of its importance and significance to God and to us. The sacrifices of Abel, Noah, and Isaac, and the Passover lamb, and the giving of the Law all came to pass, but “not without blood” (Hebrews 9:7, NKJV). The blood symbolizes cleansing and purification—the settling of a matter.

God is love. And the greatest expression of His love toward us is the blood of Jesus. That love covers every need man has had or ever will have, and every time we apply the blood, we experience an outpouring of this love. It is love, through the blood, that has created a barrier between you and all the works of the devil.

Let’s elevate the blood of Jesus to the same place in our hearts that it has in God’s heart—and awaken in our spirits those powerful things the blood has procured for us. The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including redemption, fellowship, healing, protection, and authority over the devil.

1. Redemption Through Jesus Blood

“We have redemption through His blood.” –Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)

You know the story. Satan came to Adam’s wife, Eve, in the form of a serpent and deceived her into disobeying God. Adam followed suit and did what Satan told him to do instead of obeying God. When he did that, he made Satan his lord. In bowing his knee to Satan, Adam turned over the authority that God had given him. He made Satan the illegitimate ruler of the earth.

From that day on—everything changed. With one trespass, death was passed on to all men (Romans 5:12). The earth and everything in it was suddenly cursed and man was separated from God by sin. Sounds unfixable, right?

But God had a plan.

His plan of Redemption was the same as it was for Abel, Moses, and Noah—it would be through the pouring out of blood. Such great Redemption for all mankind, for eternity, could not be accomplished through the blood of just an animal sacrifice. Redemption of this magnitude required a much greater sacrifice—the blood of His Son—Jesus.

The greatest thing the blood of Jesus accomplished was this—it washed all your sin away and made you clean and pure—white as snow. From the minute you receive Jesus as Lord of your life, God will not remember any past sin in your life. That’s how powerful the blood is!

The best part? You don’t have to earn and pay for what has been provided on the Cross. In fact, you couldn’t earn it even if you tried. The best thing you can do is joyfully accept this free gift.

In addition to being redeemed from sin, the blood also set us free from the curse of the law so that THE BLESSING of Abraham might come upon us in Christ (Galatians 3:13).

What is the curse?

The curse is death, sin, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, depression—anything bad you can think of. Adam’s treason gave Satan authority over the life of man, but because of the power of the blood of Jesus, the moment you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, you were redeemed from the curse and Satan was put out of business.

2. Fellowship With God Through Jesus Blood

“Having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.” –Hebrews 10:19 (NKJV)

When you think of fellowship, you likely think of time spent enjoying the company of friends. Fellowship is closeness—a friendship. That’s what we have with God, but it was bought with a price.

Before Adam fell in the Garden of Eden, he had enjoyed friendship and fellowship with God. After Adam’s Fall, sin separated us from this precious fellowship and could only be restored through the blood of Jesus. When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you declare that you want to receive His fellowship and friendship, and the door is opened for you to enjoy it!

Because of the power of the blood of Jesus, you can come boldly into the presence of God. The blood of Jesus builds a mighty wall between sin and believers who have been made the righteousness of God through Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Another word for fellowship is communion. One way we recognize that the blood provided for fellowship with God is through the taking of Communion. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). That’s why Communion is much deeper than a religious observance—it’s a recognition of (and fellowship with) what God did for us through the blood of Jesus. You are a friend of God (John 15:15)!

3. Healing Through Jesus Blood

“By His stripes we are healed.” –Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

When you take Communion, do you think of healing? Most Christians take the emblem of the blood and say, “Thank God, we are delivered from sin,” and that is true. Praise God for it!

But according to Isaiah 53:4-5, Jesus’ sacrifice covered every area of man’s existence. He bore spiritual torment for our sins, mental distress for our worry, care, sorrow and fear, as well as physical pain for our sickness and disease. The stripes He bore and the blood He shed were for our healing.

By His stripes we are healed.

God gave everything He had to redeem mankind from the curse. When we receive only part of His sacrifice, it’s an insult to Him. When we apply the blood of Jesus, and receive its power, we need to remember to apply it in its fullness. Don’t just receive and apply it halfway. Accept everything Jesus’ sacrifice provided. If you fail to understand and receive the full power of the blood, you will be missing out. Paul wrote, “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep” (1 Corinthians 11:30, KJV).

If you need healing today, the blood of Jesus is free and without side effects. You don’t need a prescription, you don’t need an appointment, and you don’t have to check with your insurance company. Jesus provided it all through the blood!

You can appropriate the blood of Jesus for your healing today.

4. Protection Through Jesus Blood

“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” –Exodus 12:13 (KJV)

In Exodus, after nine devastating plagues, Pharaoh still refused to let God’s people go. So, God sent a final plague—one of judgment—to “smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:12). As sons of Adam, Satan knew the children of Israel had broken covenant with God and were also due judgment. God could protect them, but “not without blood.” They had a covenant relationship with God through Abraham, but they needed to stand in that covenant. They needed to choose the covenant over the curse.

So, God instructed them to take the blood of a lamb and paint it on their doorposts. They did, and the angel of death passed them by. Was it really the blood of a lamb that stopped them from being killed? No! It was the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) who was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8, KJV).

When our twin daughters, Miracle & Mariah, were diagnosed with ‘twin twin transfusion’, we were faced with a decision. The doctor told us there was a 95-100% chance they would die in the womb.

How would we respond?

Refusing to fear, our family stood together for our twins healing—applying the blood of Jesus, and taking Communion together. Sure enough, the twins were healed by the blood of Jesus!

We had been pleading the blood of Jesus over our family solidly the entire length of our marriage.  When we were in the middle of this trial there were times we could feel fear come all over us. But when this would happen we would immediately join our faith together and start pleading the blood of Jesus because it was so real to us. Today, Miracle and Mariah are 22, completely healed, saved, full of the Holy Ghost and called to the ministry!

The blood of the Lamb is inexhaustible and never-ending. It is an unlimited supply. When we apply the blood of Jesus to the doorposts of our lives in faith—we access the power to defeat every part of the curse that tries to take residence. When you speak the Name of Jesus in the face of sickness, disease or danger, the blood of the Lamb is behind it, and you are protected!

5. Authority Over the Devil Through Jesus Blood

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” –Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

There is someone who knows, maybe even better than you do, the power and authority given to you by the blood of Jesus. He will do anything to make sure you never find out. He will try to keep you distracted, send people or ideas to confuse you, and plant seeds of doubt to keep you from operating in what belongs to you.

You can probably guess from this description who it is—the devil. If there is anyone who has anything to lose by your finding out the truth—it’s him. Well, his day is done. You are about to put him right under your feet where he belongs!

What happens when believers find out about the power of the blood of Jesus?

I was preaching a revival in South Alabama where a young lady who was demon-possessed was in attendance. A group of believers had spent about 45 minutes trying to deliver her. They were praying and praying, but she continued to physically attack them, and the demon in her was speaking lies and tormenting the people in the room.

I had been praying for others on the other side of the building not realizing what was happening. When that young lady spotted me she suddenly charged me at full speed. At that moment, it rose up in my spirit to confront that demon with the blood of Jesus. I declared, “I plead the blood of Jesus!” Immediately, this young lady fell to the ground and began slithering like a snake. She was yelling, “No! Not the blood! No! Not the blood!” Realizing its power, all the others in the room gathered closely and began singing and pleading and declaring the blood. Within just a few minutes, she was set free—delivered. The next night she had moved from sitting on the back row by herself in rebellion, to sitting on the front row with a big group of unsaved friends she had invited! All of her unsaved friends gave their lives to Jesus Christ in the service that night!!! If demons hate the blood so much, that is evidence of how powerful it really is.

Of course, the curse is still out there. You can see it all around you, but now you have a choice—to use the blood or not. You have authority over whatever it is in the Name of Jesus, and by the blood of Jesus, you can stand against it. The blood is powerful enough to remove all evidence of the curse in your life.

The blood that Jesus poured out for you and me has massive, great power. And we need to be declaring His precious blood over our lives every day!

That means that when the accuser says we’re guilty, our plea before God, the Righteous Judge, is the blood of Jesus. The blood is our defense. It declares we are not guilty; instead, we are free from all penalty of sin. The blood kicks Satan out of the affairs of our lives and the lives of our families. But you have to do it by faith!

Every day you have the right to exercise that authority by pleading what the blood of Jesus has done for you. Refuse to give the enemy even one small inch of territory. Satan is a defeated foe, and through the precious blood of Jesus, we are victorious!

When you receive revelation that the blood of Jesus has provided redemption, fellowship, healing, protection and authority over the devil, you will begin to operate in the fullness of its power! The power of the blood of Jesus is enough to overcome everything coming against you. This is how you live a life of victory in Christ, and it’s the life Jesus died to give you.

12 As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. 13 Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:12-13

As we enter into 2019 I realize now, more than ever, that Satan desires to destroy your family and home. As my first newsletter message for the New Year, I want to give you some insight the Lord has laid burning on my heart to help you avoid some traps that I believe the enemy has laid for you.

Living in a home filled with the love and the peace of God Himself is almost like living in heaven right here on earth. We all know that’s true. And we desire to live in such a home. Yet, time and time again, we shortchange our families. We spend our kindest words and best smiles on the people outside of our family. Have you ever asked yourself, “What’s that all about”? The answer is more simplistic than you might think. Looking at this from a spiritual perspective, the devil has a bullseye on your family. Your family is one of your most precious gifts! When your family is in unity it’s one of your strongest assets. The devil is aware of how to dismantle your family and he is determined to do it!

Satan’s war plan is basic. He will do whatever it takes to bring division to your house! He will whip up emotions of unforgiveness and anger. The devil will try to motivate you to feed feelings of resentment and keep bitterness in your heart. In the middle of all of this, his strategy is to divide and conquer your home.

When we as God’s children get in unity with one another, miracles, signs, and wonders rapidly begin to take place. The unity of God’s people makes an atmosphere for the supernatural, miracle-working power of God to freely flow! The devil is constantly tempting us to cloud that atmosphere by keeping us in disagreement with one another over menial things.

Too many times we give in to his strategies because we don’t understand how detrimental discord really is. The Bible gives us clear instruction about how to deal with this in James 3:16, “Where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

Do not allow the devil to access to your home by allowing your family the “luxury” of a few arguments.

Put a stop to the devastation before it begins. Hide God’s Word in your heart. Search the Bible to see what He has to say about the power of unity. Quit viewing your family from your own limited perspective and start viewing it as God views it—as a powerhouse! That way you won’t veer needlessly into an argument every time emotions are high in your home.

Make up your mind right now that from the beginning of 2019 you are not going to let the devil have your family. Instead, pray for them, support them and love them. Bring them together in unity, so you can all enjoy the fullness of what God has for you!

With God’s leading, we plan to bring The Truth for Youth Bible distribution among young people and adults that are incarcerated in America’s juvenile detention centers, prisons and jails to a higher level than ever before. Over the past 20 years we have received more than 8000 requests for Truth for Youth Bibles from incarnated young people and adults, or requests from their family members for the Bibles to be sent to them in prison. We have NEVER turned down a request!!! We always send them Bibles and thankfully we have special permission to distribute Truth for Youth Bibles in America’s correctional facilities. There is a desperate need for Bibles among inmates and yet there are not a lot of churches that are effectively reaching into the prisons.

Most pastors have been to jail to see someone. And most want to help prisoners and their families. But their churches often lack the training or finances to run an effective prison ministry. So instead, the work is primarily done informally by individuals in the congregation.

LifeWay Research Institute found widespread support among pastors for the idea of prison ministry. Four out of five pastors have visited a correctional facility. And almost all believe churches should help the families of those incarcerated and provide care for those getting out of jail.

However, many pastors have little contact with those who have been incarcerated. Half of pastors say no one from their congregation has been jailed in the past three years. A third have seen one or two people from their church go to jail. One in six say three or more attendees have been jailed at that time. About a third of pastors say no former inmates attend their church, one or two former inmates attend, or three or more former inmates attend.

One of the many reasons that the Truth for Youth Bible is so popular among incarcerated young people and adults is because of the effective graphic novels in the front 100 pages of the Truth for Youth Bible. These powerful comic stories deal with the truth about many moral issues that people in prison and jail are dealing with – drugs, drunkenness, sexual impurity, homosexuality, pornography, cutting, sexting, suicide, bullying, witchcraft, peer pressure. We also deal with pluralism, honor and many other issues. The Bible says in John 8:32, “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

Overall, few pastors have contact with current or former inmates as a normal part of their ministry. So prison ministry isn’t a priority for a lot of churches. When half the pastors haven’t had someone from their church sent to jail, then prison ministry isn’t on their ministry radar. Revival Fires is able to help fill this need by having incarcerated youth and adults on our radar by providing Truth for Youth Bibles for them!

We include the plan of salvation in each of the comic stories in the Truth for Youth Bible so that not only with the prison inmates find out the truth about the moral issues we deal with in the stories, but they will also find out how to give their life to Jesus Christ! Thankfully, we receive decision cards on a daily basis from incarcerated young people and adults. When these inmates make Jesus the Lord of their life while they are in prison it makes the difference with regard to keeping them from returning to prison and living a productive and fruitful life!

Incarceration rates in the United States remain at record levels. More than 2.2 million Americans are held in state and federal prisons or local jails, according to the Institute for Criminal Policy Research. That’s more than any other nation in the world!

Other ministries, like distributing school supplies to kids or volunteering at a food pantry, are relatively easy to start. But ministering to inmates and their families is more difficult, requiring special training and often a long-term commitment from volunteers.

About two-thirds of pastors cite a lack of training or volunteers as barriers to their churches helping inmates and their families. Others say they don’t know where to start, their church is involved in too many other ministries, or they don’t see a need for it. Money is an issue as well. Half of pastors say a lack of finances is a barrier to ministry. When churches do have a prison ministry, it is often run on an informal basis. Churches face an uphill battle to grow their prison ministries.

These are messy, long-term ministries. You really have to demonstrate biblical faithfulness to be involved with them. It’s a lot easier to pick a ministry where there are quick rewards, but you miss out on the opportunity to impact families and communities.

I’ve had the privilege of preaching and giving away Bibles in a lot of prisons, jails, and youth detention centers through the years. This year we are stepping it up to a higher level than ever before as I will be ministering in many more prison facilities. Please pray for us!  Getting the Truth for Youth Bible into the hands of those that are incarcerated is not a cure-all but it is a good place to start! A Bible in their hands and Jesus in their hearts!

Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, “I was in prison, and you came to me.” Let me encourage you to prayerfully consider getting involved financially with helping us provide the Truth for Youth Bibles we will give away to incarcerated youth and adults in America’s youth detention centers, jails, and prisons. The Truth for Youth cost our ministry only $2 each to print and we will give away at least 25,000 Truth for Youth Bibles, ($50,000) in our prisons. Your prayerful consideration is greatly appreciated!

Our prayer is that 2019 will be your most productive & peacefull year!

What is the greatest Christmas present?

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)

During this time of the year, we need to realize that Jesus Christ is the reason we celebrate Christmas.

Over 2000 years ago, God’s love came down from Heaven to earth and the world was blessed with a miracle of love.

With a guiding star and a choir of angels rejoicing from Heaven, they pointed to a tiny babe within the manger, a Savior bringing peace to earth, the greatest gift of all.
Jesus did not come to a throne, but a manger; He lived not as a king, but as a servant. He chose not an earthly kingdom, but a cross. He gave not just a little, but He gave us everything.

As we look at the snow that covers much of our nation right now, we are reminded of what Jesus did for us and what Isaiah wrote about over 600 years before the Messiah was born: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)

Jesus came to the earth as a baby, grew in favor and wisdom, died on the cross for all of us and rose again and sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. One day He will come for those who have made Him the Lord of their lives, those who obey Him and have accepted Him as their Savior.

Yes, Jesus came to be a glorious light in a darkened world; He came to bring hope to everyone. Jesus is the light of the world and a gift to us from God. He was sent to the world to save us from sin and eternal damnation. He was sent to us, as the most amazing gift from God. “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Of all the gifts you will ever receive, the gift of salvation that Jesus Christ offers us is by far the most precious gift you will ever receive because it is one that will last for all eternity.

In honor to our Savior let us love Him and obey His commandments, therefore, we should give tribute to Jesus in everything that we say, think and do, today and every day of our life.
Remember, true salvation always results in a holy life ready to serve our gracious God who has granted us deliverance from the bondage of sin.

If you have family members that have never trusted in Christ as their Savior, they are in darkness and the shadow of death. The good news, however, is that God is merciful to all sinners. That is why Jesus came to earth as a baby. Continually pray for your unsaved family and friends to ask Him to guide them into the way of peace. Pray fervently, believing God for them to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. As they submit to Christ they will know His tender mercy that forgives them of all their sins just as He has forgiven you of your sins. Then, they will know the real meaning of Christmas.
Celebrating the humble birth of our glorious Savior, we wish you a Season with overflowing peace and joy. Merry Christmas!

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

We have witnessed tremendous Kingdom results with a powerful move of the Holy Ghost in all of our ministry outreach across America and around the world during 2018.

As 2018 comes to a close, Angie, myself and Revival Fires International would like to say a big thank you to our ministry partners for supporting us prayerfully and financially. You have been a great blessing to us and you have been used mightily of God to inspire, encourage and support God’s work through this vital ministry. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect and share with you the exciting things that happened in 2018 and look forward to even more exciting things that are to come in 2019 if the Lord doesn’t return first!

In 2018 we were blessed with the privilege to preach in 321 services in 47 churches here in the United States in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas resulting in hundreds of people being saved, filled with the Spirit, healed, delivered and SET ON FIRE FOR GOD!!!

In a revival service at CT Church in Houston, TX where Don Nordin is pastor, a young man who had never been to church and had never had a Bible, came forward and gloriously gave his heart to the Lord as his personal Savior!!! He saw the services advertised on Facebook and said he just felt compelled to come. No doubt the Holy Spirit was preparing him to surrender his life to the Lord!

God alone knows the impact that these revival services have had in the lives of these people and in the church congregations. The Lord willing, He has many exciting revivals in store for the coming year as well.

So thankful for all of the young people who are giving their hearts to the Lord as a result of receiving the Truth for Youth Bible. We were so blessed to give away thousands of TFY Bibles again this year during our 18th Annual National Truth for Youth Bible Week on American Family Radio and in revival services across the nation.

Earlier this year we were in special revival services at TAG Church in Little Rock, AR where Dwayne Maynard is pastor. Pastor Dwayne’s daughter, Haven, gave a Truth for Youth Bible to a friend in school. That night, this precious young lady came to the revival, gave her heart to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Spirit!!! The powerful testimonies from 2018 of young people being saved and filled with the Spirit are many!

We have been providing Truth for Youth Bibles for prison inmates across America at a higher level in 2018 than in any previous year. There are approximately 6.6 million inmates in adult correctional facilities and more than 70,800 young people incarcerated in juvenile facilities. Each year there are approximately 500,000 youth brought to detention centers! The Lord has given us an inroad to provide a Truth for Youth Bible for the youth that are coming in and out of these juvenile detention centers across America!

One of many testimonies from this year… In September we were blessed to provide Truth for Youth Bibles for Pastor Mike Howell, New Destiny Church in Monroe, LA, to give away to all of the inmates in a prison in South Arkansas where the death row population is housed. Many of the inmates gave their heart to the Lord!

The only way for an incarcerated young person to truly turn from their life of crime is through the power and grace of God! The Truth for Youth Bible, with the graphic novels that deal with the very issues these incarcerated youth are facing, is being used mightily of God to bring life in Jesus Christ to each one of them.

Since the conception of the Truth for Youth Bible in 1994 we have GIVEN AWAY more than 2.5 million Truth for Youth Bibles and have received Decision Coupons from more than 25,000 young people that have given their hearts to Christ. We will continue to continue to distribute thousands of Truth for Youth Bibles to teenagers in America and bring in a harvest of souls through these efforts.

What an awesome move of the Holy Spirit took place during our third evangelistic crusade in Cuba. With the permission of the Cuban government, we were honored to give away thousands of full Bibles to the people of Cuba who have never had a Bible and witness thousands come to the Lord.

In one of our crusade services, one of the highest ranking Cuban government attorneys sat on the front row with tears streaming down her cheeks as I preached the Gospel. When I gave the altar call she came forward and surrendered her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ for the very first time. It was such and honor to be able to present her with her very first Bible!

In another service, a teenage young man trapped in the bondage of homosexuality was saved and gloriously set free by the power of the Holy Spirit!!! I was so thankful to be able to present him with a copy of the Truth for Youth Bible. As you may know, the Truth for Youth Bible consists of the entire New Testament along with 100 pages of full color graphic novels in the front section that deal with the truth about things that young people are facing every day. One of the graphic novels deals with the truth about homosexual perversion. This was very helpful to this young man coming out of the perverted lifestyle of homosexuality.

Cuba’s Department of Religious Affairs, the Cuban Bible Council and the Cuban Council of Churches have all given their approval for Revival Fires to distribute one million FULL Bibles to the people in Cuba that have never had a Bible! In addition, we have also been given permission to give away our BRAND NEW CUBAN SPANISH Truth for Youth Bible to the 1.4 million teenagers in Cuba! Please continue to pray that God will give us wisdom as He strategically positions us to complete this vitally important mission as we will be back in Cuba for evangelistic crusades and Bible distribution in 2019!

The FULL Bibles cost our ministry only $5 each to print. With God’s help, we plan to provide 50,000 Bibles for the people of Cuba this coming year. It will cost a total of $250,000 to print and deliver these Bibles. To help us provide 50,000 full Bibles for the people of Cuba that have never had a Bible in 2019 you may use the enclosed envelope.

In January 2019, the Lord willing, we will be privileged to preach the Gospel in an evangelistic crusade just outside of Melbourne, Australia for the third time. In our two previous Australia Crusades, we have witnessed a tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The altars have been full in every service as people gave their hearts to Christ and receiving victory in every way possible. We distributed Truth for Youth Bibles to all young people in attendance.

Angie preached to a large group of ladies in special services and prayed for, and ministered to them in very special altar services.

Australia is a very secular country and they are in desperate need of a sovereign move of the Holy Spirit. Your prayers for these special evangelistic services in January are greatly appreciated!

2019 will bring a massive harvest of souls and many great things for the Kingdom of God through Revival Fires International! We are praying that our God will bless you and your family as you serve Him. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For helping us take the whole Gospel to the whole world before Jesus comes!

In just a few short days we will celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a shame that we have only one day set aside each year to give thanks to God as a nation. We should have some time set aside each day, to give our praise to Him who has blessed us so richly.
I was shopping in one of the local grocery stores just before Thanksgiving last year and most everything in the store was promoting the great commercial power of Christmas. You remember when all the stores use to have the paper pilgrims to decorate the stores not too many years ago. Now as soon as the big push to buy costumes and candy is over, out comes the commercialization of Christmas. We are bombarded with Santa Claus and snowmen.

As God’s people, we should focus our thoughts, not only now but often, on the goodness of God and offer our gratitude to Him for who He is and for all He has done for us.
Psalm 103:1-5 is David’s Hallelujah Chorus! “Praise the Lord, my soul! Praise his holy name, all that is within me. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and never forget all the good he has done: 3 He is the one who forgives all your sins, the one who heals all your diseases, 4 the one who rescues your life from the pit, the one who crowns you with mercy and compassion, 5 the one who fills your life with blessings so that you become young again like an eagle.” Notice he addresses his soul. He is reminding himself, as he praises the Lord, of all that God has done.

This is a prayer of nothing but praise to God. There is no supplication, no request, no petition or plea in this prayer. It is pure unadulterated praise to God. David was awestruck with God’s blessings. We are not told the circumstances in which David received this Psalm, but it is not difficult to imagine how it happened. Looking at his life, counting his blessings instead of complaining about his burdens, it dawned on David just how much God had done for him. He realized how good God had been and how undeserving he was of all these blessings. Springing up from the depths of his heart and gushing out onto his parchment came this prayer of praise, expressing his gratitude toward the Lord.

David praised the Lord with his song. If you ever have a problem praising the Lord all you have to do is read this psalm. A psalm is a song. All the psalms were sung by the Hebrews. The book of Psalms is a hymn book. So David sang this song of praise to the Lord.

I can see David, full of emotion, passionate in all that he did, praising God with all his heart. He’d have a difficult time in some of our churches today. He believed in putting his all into it. King David was also an accomplished musician, a man who sang with feeling and with conviction. This was a joyous song of praise to the Lord.

These words were not dry and stale when David sang them. They were full of life and energy. They were part of his worship. You remember that David danced when he worshiped God. Remember that one of his wives, Michal, did not approve and criticized him, and God made her barren for her criticism. Now a guy who dances when he worships God, would not be dry as he sang this song. It would not be sung like he was at a funeral. This was a song of praise. David sang it with joy and with a deep desire to let God and everyone who could hear, know just how much he really wanted God to receive praise and glory. The psalms are filled with these kinds of praise songs.

In Psalm 34:12 when David pretended to be insane in the presence of Abimelech, who drove him out, he said, “I will praise the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. I will boast in the Lord; the humble will hear and be glad. Proclaim with me the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt His name together.”

Psalm 66:1 – 4: “Shout joyfully to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, ‘How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before you because of your great strength. All the earth will worship You and sing praise to You. They will sing praise to Your name.'”

Psalm 81, 92, and many, many others are songs of praise to the Lord.

David was serious about praising the Lord. It wasn’t something he only did at the temple during religious ceremonies. It was part of his everyday experience. He was grateful to the Lord and he could not help but praise him. We need to be the same when it comes to the way we sing our songs of praise. David was singing the Hebrew version of “Count your blessings.”

One of the names of the devil is the accuser of the brethren. In Job we see him going before God to accuse Job. We have every reason to believe that he goes before God even now to accuse us. He says, “Look at what he said. Look at what she did. These people of yours are sinners. How can they say they really love you and continue to act like they do?” He does not have to lie about us when he comes before the Lord, for God would not permit it. No, there are enough faults in all of our lives that the devil simply has to point out the obvious.

The Bible calls him the adversary, the enemy. But we also have an Advocate. We have one who goes to the Father on our behalf. We have Jesus Christ the righteous. When the old devil accuses us, our Advocate, Jesus, raises His nail-pierced hand and says, “Just a minute. We see no stain of sin on that one or on that one or on that one, because they are mine. I have bought them with a price and their sins, though they were like scarlet, have been washed white as snow. They belong to me.”

As David writes under the anointing of the Holy Spirit he understands that God forgives our sins. But he also sees believers as people who have been made whole because of their relationship with God.

Verse 3b – who heals all your diseases – remember that he is addressing his soul. So what kind of healing is he speaking of here?

Many take this to mean physical healing. We know that God heals physically. God is the great physician and we can take all of our physical needs to Him. He made us and has the power to save us and heal us.

James 5:14-15: “Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.”

But physical healing is not the kind spoken of here. If we are to do justice to this passage, we can’t simply assign to it any meaning we would like. David is talking to his soul, telling it that God heals all the diseases of the soul, sin being chief among them. Does the soul have diseases? Absolutely! Fear, doubt, depression, anger, lust, hate, jealously, pride, greed . . . the list goes on and on. These soul diseases can all be traced back to our fallen nature and the effects of sin. But God can give permanent healing to the soul.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Because He forgives our sins, because He gives us relationship, because He heals our souls diseases, then we see that life is meaningful. This verse can be translated, “He keeps your life from going to waste.”

How many people waste the years of their lives on things that, in the long run, really don’t count? They spend their days in pursuit of the temporal passing things, and wake up one day, empty, tired and feeling like there is no use going on. In fact, they end up feeling betrayed because the things they worked so hard to obtain failed to bring them the satisfaction for which they longed. The world does not offer any hope for meaningful living. Money, material, power, position, things, won’t do it.

God gives His people purpose in living. He gives us meaning. He keeps our lives from going to waste. Our lives are lived with eternal purpose. All lives not lived in Christ are only a shell of what they are intended to be. This is one of the benefits of knowing God, our lives count; they are not lived in vain. They have eternal significance. This is one of the things David is praising the Lord for. In verse 5 David said, “He satisfies your mouth.”

He gives us satisfaction in our old age. Remember David is speaking to his soul and he said that one of the benefits of being God’s people is that when we are old we will not have to look back on our lives with regret. Regardless of your age, or of how many years you have walked on the earth, God will give you satisfaction.

Are you living a life in relationship with God? If so, you can’t help but praise Him. This is the same passion David had. How do you praise him? With your life. But we have to be careful not to fall into the same rut the Israelites fell into – saying one thing and doing another.

Isaiah 29:13 “These people worship me with their mouths and honor me with their lips. But their hearts are far from me, and their worship of me is based on rules made by humans.”

David said I will praise Him with all that is within me. That means, praise Him with my attitudes and my actions, my family and my finances, my words and my work, my relationship with God and my relationships with others, my voice and my vocation, my church and my children, my hobbies and my habits, I will praise Him not only in word but also in deed. I will praise Him with everything that is within me!!!

When was the last time you stopped to consider all His benefits? Do you enjoy those benefits? Have you ever experienced forgiveness? Are you living a meaningful life, a satisfied life? Does your soul have diseases that need to be healed? Are you living with an eternal purpose? As we approach Thanksgiving Day consider DAILY the many blessings and benefits God has given you!

Clearly, the need of the hour is Holy Ghost Revival Fire! We need the real thing – a spiritual awakening to sweep through our slumbering congregations and put us back on our knees before the living Lord. The word revival conjures up different pictures to different people. If you have lived in the South as I do, a revival means a week-long series of meetings at the church held by a powerful evangelist wearing a three-piece suit. Each of these “revival” meetings is primarily designed to reach unbelievers for Christ. I personally have been on the evangelistic field preach revival services for over 31 years and we have witnessed thousands of people surrender their heart and life to Christ.

That is all tremendous, however, that’s not what revival is. Evangelism is not revival. That’s regeneration. Revival is strengthening believers in the church. Reaching the unsaved is the by-product of revival. Revival is a sovereign work of God in His own people, bringing back to full spiritual fervor the hearts of believers that are now dormant and dull. Revival is a visitation of God that brings to life believers who have been sleeping and restores a deep sense of God’s near presence and holiness. All this ushers in a sense of sin and a profound exercise of heart in repentance, praise, and love with an evangelistic overflow.

Charles Finney, the revivalist of the early nineteenth century, defined revival as “a new beginning of obedience.” Simply put, it is a new humility. A new closeness to God. A new passion for Christ. A new love for God. A new desire for holiness. A fresh new baptism in the Holy Ghost! That’s what real revival is! It is a sovereign and mysterious work of God, just as the new birth is. It cannot be coerced, nor manipulated. It is a supernatural work of God in His church that restores her lost purity, devotion, and power. Revival restores to full health the spiritual life that is already present in the church. It is the renewing, purifying, replenishing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church.

Realistically, revival is a time of divine visitation. It is an invasion from heaven that manifests the presence and power of God in the church. It ushers in a renewed, conscious awareness of God’s awesome holiness that produces holiness in the church. Now, that’s the real thing!!!

In my opinion the best definition of revival found anywhere in the Bible is Revelation 3:1-2, “I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen the things which remain, which were about to die…”

That church, the church of Sardis, was dead as last years Christmas tree! They had lost their spiritual passion and fervency for Christ. They were flat and devoid of spiritual power. By outward appearances, they looked religious and sounded pious. But in reality, they were dead. Jesus called out to them to wake up! That’s what revival is – it is a spiritual awakening of those who are lethargic toward Christ. It is a sleeping church – unconscious, unresponsive, unexcited – waking up to the presence of God and returning to full spiritual vitality. It’s waking up to Jesus Christ and allowing Him to strengthen what spiritual life remains.

How can we wake up? How can we have revival in the church and in our lives? How can we stop playing church and have the real thing? Revival begins with the ministry of the Word of God. It begins with the preaching of the Word of God to the church under the anointing of the Holy Ghost! Why is that so important? Because the Scriptures are full of the life of God (! Peter 1:23; John 6:63). And if we are to have God’s life within the church revived, then God’s Word – which is “living” and “active” (Hebrews 4:12) – must invade our lives. Like produces like. The Word of God revives the life of God in His people.

In fact, each of the seven letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation begin with a call for the proclamation of God’s Word: “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write…” (Revelation 2:1), “To the angel of the church in Smyrna write…” (2:8), “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write…” (2:12), “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write…” (2:18), “To the angel of the church in Sardis write…” (3:1), “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write…” (3:7), and finally, “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write…” (3:14). Notice that the emphasis is on the communication and proclamation of the written Word of God!

In each passage the pastor of the church is told to communicate the written Word of Christ to His congregation. That’s where revival begins. It begins when the pastor and the spiritual leadership of the church preach and teach the Word of God. I love what D.L. Moody said, “The best way to start a revival is to build a fire in the pulpit.” The Lord Jesus Christ promises to bring a great spiritual awakening to the church where God’s Word is preached.

John wrote in Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it.” This verse pictures the public gathering, or worship service, of the church. The Word of God is to be read by the pastor (“he who reads”). And is to be heard and obeyed by the entire church (“those who hear…and heed the things which are written in it”).

It is the Word of God – preached, heard, applied, and obeyed – that brings Revival Fire to the hearts of God’s people. That’s exactly what Psalm 119 tells us. Revival comes when the Word of God invades our lives, searches our hearts, and produces holiness. The psalmist says, “Revive me according to Thy word” (verse 25). He pleaded, “Revival me in Thy ways” (verse 37). “Thy ways” is a synonym for the Word of God because it points out the way we are to take. Again he says, “Revive me through Thy righteousness” (verse 40). “Thy righteousness” is another synonym for God’s Word because it defines right and wrong. Also, “I will never forget Thy precepts, for by them Thou hast revived me” (verse 93). Finally, “Revive me according to Thy word” (verse 154).

Each of the seven letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation finishes up in the same way: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22). Revival breaks out when God’s Word is preached, heard and, by the power of the Holy Ghost, illuminates and convicts, and is applied to our lives! If there is to be a revival in our churches, it must begin in our pulpits! Pastors and Evangelists must return to bold, biblical preaching of holy Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-4:5).

Many things today have been offered to replace biblical preaching. Some of them – musicals, Christian talk shows, movies, and drama – have a place in the church. But they should never be allowed to replace the preaching of the Word of God. The need of the hour is for the powerful, Holy Ghost anointed preaching of the Word of God! Think about this, God only had one son, and He made Him a preacher (Mark 1:14).

If we are to have revival, we must return again to biblical preaching that exalts Christ, exposes sin, encourages hope, builds faith, and calls for a verdict. It is the proclamation of the Word of God that prepares the way for revival! I want to encourage and challenge my fellow pastors and evangelists…PREACH THE WORD!!!

Cuba’s churches may still be restricted, but that’s not stopping a spiritual Revival Fire in the communist nation. The churches in Cuba are thriving right now. All of them are growing, not just in the number of members but in their capacity to lead and act in society.

The Cuban government is now allowing Revival Fires to distribute the brand new Cuban Spanish Truth for Youth Bible to the 1.4 million young people of Cuba that have never had a Bible! The Cuban government is also allowing churches to provide the social services that it once monopolized. These projects include AIDS prevention, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, medicine distribution and disaster relief.

It is estimated that about 25,000 evangelical and other Protestant houses of worship are flourishing across the country. Assemblies of God churches have seen the most spectacular growth in recent years. In the early 1990’s they had roughly 10,000 members compared to 120,000 currently.

Some 100,000 Cubans consider themselves Baptist and 40,000 are Methodist. Sixty percent of Cuba’s 11 million people are baptized Catholic.

For many years the Cuban government has not allowed churches or other religious groups to build houses of worship or other structures. This has inadvertently sparked the growth of house churches which Cuban believers have multiplied with great success. However, recently, because of a close connection with Pastor Hernandez Salazar in Havana, Cuba, Revival Fires has been granted permission to help build large facilities for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the country of Cuba!

Pastor Salazar has great favor with the Cuban government officials as he previously served as the National Cuban Council of Churches president from 2008 to 2012. While serving in the position, he was able to regularly plant the seed of the Gospel into the hearts of then Dictator Fidel Castro, Fidel’s brother, Raul Castro, and many other high-ranking Cuban government officials.

Pastor Salazar now oversees more than 250 on fire for God churches that are making an eternal, spiritual impact in the entire nation of Cuba! We have already helped Pastor Salazar build a church in Santa Clara and a church in  Cein Fuegos.

We are now in the process of helping to build two more churches in areas of Cuba where there are no churches. It cost our ministry only $10,000 to build one church building. If the Holy Spirit lays on your heart to help us with the expense of providing the necessary funds for these churches or to help us provide Bibles for the people of Cuba that have never had a Bible you may use the enclosed envelope. Wrap your gift with love and please pray for the people of Cuba!

Across the country, we have experienced, and are currently experiencing, miraculous moves of God. Currently, revival fires are sweeping across America in our revival services!

We are witnessing a massive amount of healings and miracles of deliverance, supernatural breakthrough and salvation. The Holy Spirit is flowing mightily in the lives of each person in attendance. I see these miracles as a sign that an even greater awakening is on the horizon!

The personal, regional, and global expansion of God’s kingdom through His manifest presence are what we are seeing take place right now. The focus on revival fire has brought many to Christ and led to countless testimonies. Healing a range of afflictions, from scoliosis to manic-depressive disorder, God is working miracles in the lives of those attending our revival services.

We are seeing more miracles happen by accident than we ever used to have on purpose. When the glory of God begins to come into the room, I’m not going to stop that to preach. I don’t have anything that important to say. The preaching of the Word of God under the anointing of the Holy Ghost is extremely important, however, to me, it’s all about His presence.

Please pray with us as we continue to fan the flames of Revival Fires across America and around the world!!
